Bishop Robert Barron on the Issues
Viganò testimony
Supports investigating Archbishop Viganò’s claims-
During a video for his “Word on Fire” blog, Bishop Barron said “This is not some minor player, this is the former Apostolic Nuncio to the United States…He’s making some serious claims, and I’d say look into them. Let’s take an honest, objective look at what’s being claimed here.” (Crux)
Amoris Laetitia
Unclear on Communion for divorced and remarried Catholics-
In April 2016, Bishop Barron claimed Amoris Laetitia does not “embrace a breezy ‘anything-goes’ mentality.” Nor does it “deny that a civil marriage after a divorce is objectively irregular.” Rather it finds “perhaps, for someone in great pain, a way forward.” Amoris Laetitia will “be of great service to many suffering souls who come to the Field Hospital.” (Word on Fire Blog)

At the November 2017 U.S. Bishops gathering in Maryland, Barron said Amoris Laetitia is an “extraordinarily rich document.” He said it is a “tragedy” it has been received “so poor” in the U.S. and that all the coverage has been “about a particular footnote.” (LifeSiteNews)
Pro-life leadership

Not enough evidence collected on this issue-
During a 2017 interview with a gay, liberal political commentator, Bishop Barron said that if the only thing gay persons hear from the Church is that they are “intrinsically disordered” then the Church has “a very serious problem” on its hands. He also said he disagreed with the Supreme Court’s decision to legalize same-sex “marriage” but that he wouldn’t keep “pressing” opposition to it. Revoking homosexual unions “would probably cause much more problems and dissension and difficulty if we keep pressing it.” “I wouldn’t want to get on a crusader’s tank and try to reverse that,” he said. Abortion politics
Not enough evidence collected on this issue-
In response to undercover videos showing Planned Parenthood employees selling aborted babies, Bishop Barron wrote an op-ed arguing that the videos highlight the “forgetfulness of the dignity of the human being that is on ever clearer display in our Western culture.” (Real Clear Politics)
Contraception
Not enough evidence collected on this issue-
Bishop Barron praised Paul VI as a “prophet” for predictions made in Humanae Vitae. Bishop Barron highlighted in a video how Paul VI correctly predicted contraception would lower moral standards, result in men treating women poorly, and that governments would impose contraception. (Word on Fire Blog)
“LGBT” ideology
Not enough evidence collected on this issue-
Bishop Barron strongly rebuked Bruce Jenner’s “transition” to Caitlyn Jenner in a 2015 article on his website Word on Fire. Barron said Jenner’s decision is a form of gnosticism and repugnant to Biblical religion. It rejects Church teaching about the unity of the body and soul. (Word on Fire)
